Press-Locked Grating

Press-locked grating is assembled by pressing cross bars into pre-punched bearing bars under high pressure. Bar depth, spacing, material, panel layout and finishing are confirmed from the project drawing before quotation.

When press-locked construction is the right starting point

Press-locked construction is useful where the project needs a regular visual grid, flexible spacing or a material and finish combination that should be reviewed separately from standard welded grating.

The construction name alone does not establish capacity. Bearing bar section, spacing, clear span, support condition, load type and the governing project standard still control the final selection.

Depending on the selected bar profiles, the mechanically engaged cross bars can create a flush or near-flush upper grid with clean, repeated openings. This visual regularity is useful for screens and visible access areas, but the joint detail, bar orientation and supporting edges still need to be shown on the approved drawing.

State the material grade and required appearance before the joint detail is confirmed; changing material after tooling or drawings are approved can change tolerances, surface condition and the practical construction route.

  • Large panel widths, unusually deep or thin bars and complex shapes are reviewed against available tooling, handling and finishing; feasible limits are confirmed for the specific project rather than assumed from a generic catalogue.

Packaging & Delivery

  • Support bundles beneath the bearing-bar direction and use spacers so straps do not pull the regular grid out of square.
  • Protect exposed bar ends, banded edges and visible faces from impact or abrasion during forklift handling and container loading.
  • Keep stainless steel or aluminum panels isolated from bare carbon-steel packing surfaces where contact contamination would affect the specified finish.
  • Apply panel marks and packing-list references outside protective wrapping so installers can sort fabricated pieces without opening every bundle.
