Galvanized or stainless for a chemical plant?
Galvanized carbon steel handles most industrial atmospheres. Sustained chemical splash, chlorides or aggressive cleaning regimes justify SS316L. Share the media, concentration and temperature and we will recommend against the actual exposure.
SS304 or SS316L — what is the practical difference?
SS316L contains molybdenum, which improves resistance to chlorides and many chemicals; SS304 suits food processing and general corrosive duty at lower cost. The choice follows the media, not a hierarchy.
How is zinc coating quality verified?
Coating thickness is measured by coating gauge per batch against the agreed standard — ASTM A123, ISO 1461 or your project specification — and the results are reported in the order inspection documentation.
Does stainless steel grating ever rust?
Properly grade-selected and passivated stainless resists its intended environment. Light tea-staining in coastal air is cosmetic rather than structural, and correct grade selection and finishing keep it in check.
Is aluminum grating strong enough for walkways?
Aluminum suits pedestrian and light maintenance walkways at appropriate spans, and its low weight helps on marine and rooftop structures. It is not recommended for vehicle loads — the specification is always confirmed against span and load first.
Can you passivate or electro-polish after welding?
Yes. Pickling and passivation restore the corrosion-resistant surface after welding; electro-polishing is available where a hygienic, easy-clean finish is required.
